Our process

How an iron fence job goes

Iron is set heavier than other fences: deeper posts, more concrete, and hardware rated for the weight of the section. On estate drives we coordinate with masons on the piers so the gate lands where the stonework expects it.

Finishes are powder coat or shop paint. We will walk you through the upkeep difference honestly.

"Ray was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and got everything permitted and had the project pushed through very fast. The install crew also did an amazing job. Fast precise and did a final walk through to make sure everything was installed correctly. The fence looks incredible and my experience with this company was definitely 5/5."

FAQ

iron fence questions

What is the difference between wrought iron and ornamental iron?

True wrought iron is rarely made today; what the industry installs is ornamental iron — steel sections shaped like traditional wrought iron. We say 'iron' and mean ornamental steel unless a project truly calls for forged work.

How much does a wrought iron fence cost?

Typical planning range is $60–$120 per linear foot installed, with gates quoted separately. Estate drives vary widely with pier work. Your estimate confirms the number.

Does iron fence rust in our climate?

Modern powder-coated ornamental iron resists rust well. Scratches should be touched up; we will show you how. If you want the look with zero rust maintenance, ask us about aluminum.

Can iron fence go around a pool?

Yes — iron makes a beautiful code-compliant pool barrier when the height and gate hardware meet the code. We keep the spec sheet for your inspector.

Is iron fence allowed in historic districts?

Often yes, with design review. Old Town Alexandria's board reviews fences in the historic district; low, open, dark-finished iron is the pattern that passes. We handle the review drawings.

Iron or aluminum — which should I choose?

Iron for historic fronts, estate drives, and maximum presence. Aluminum for the same look at lower cost and no rust upkeep. We quote both when the design allows it.
