Fence installation in Dunn Loring
What we build in Dunn Loring
Dunn Loring mixes two worlds: the industrial park where our shop sits, and the residential pockets of colonials and townhomes between Gallows Road and the Dunn Loring–Merrifield Metro station. Townhome rows near the Mosaic District call for white vinyl privacy panels on shared lines, where an association-approved style and a clean finished face matter as much as height. Detached lots take wood shadowbox or board-on-board runs sized to the yard.
Aluminum earns its place along front walks and driveway aprons, where a four-foot black open fence marks the line without hiding the house. Chain link still makes sense here too — side yards, dog runs, and the small commercial yards around the business park use galvanized or black-coated fabric on steel posts.
Tight access shapes our logistics. Alley-loaded townhomes and narrow side gates mean panels get carried by hand, so we plan staging during the estimate visit and keep crews small where drives are short. Every job ends with a walkthrough beside you, hinges adjusted and debris hauled.
The Dunn Loring–Merrifield Metro station changed the walking pattern of the whole area, and fences adapted with it. Corner townhomes wanted open fronts with privacy tucked behind, shared courtyards needed a single consistent line instead of six owner experiments, and cut-through foot traffic made rear gates the bottleneck of the yard. We design for the foot traffic first: gates where the path already runs, heights that screen the patio without screening the light, and hardware that survives daily use by strangers as well as family.
Materials get picked for the block, not the brochure. Vinyl matches where the association set the standard; wood fits the older detached streets where a repaired run tells a story; chain link holds the utility corners without apology. Aluminum splits the difference at the front, marking the property line in black with the brick still visible behind it.
Winter is the honest test of a shared-line fence. Vinyl panels flex where wood cracks, aluminum sheds the plow snow that wood absorbs, and chain link could not care less. We set bottom rails high enough to clear the snow you shovel onto them, and we can leave spare pickets with you for the day a plow finds the line.
Townhome sections match well with vinyl fence installation, while the business park's yards suit commercial fencing specs — heavier posts, wider vehicle gates. Garage-court entries pair well with automatic gate installation.
